emotional landscapes

i have no words to describe just how perfect this day was. it was still pretty cold outside but the sun was shining so bright, the sky was a perfect blue and it was oh so quiet. i don't usually do this, but when i learned we were going to spend saturday outdoors i seized the chance of taking an extra set of photos for the blog, given that i rarely have time for this nowadays. so i carefully packed a few things without trying them on first and just hoped for the best. turned out it was quite well coordinated with the landscape. too bad winter days are so short, i would have loved to stay there a bit longer my kindle in my hands and just immerse in a world of fantasy. i probably mentioned this before, but i am not a big winter fan. i do enjoy some winter activities, mainly snowboarding but most of all i'd like winter to stay in the mountains and away from the city. oh summer, how i wish you could come sooner. i have so many things planned already.

you fit me better than my favorite sweater

weekends are the time for me to dress as cozy and comfy as possible. it's one of the few occasions when i actually wear pants. now that i think about it i haven't bought a pair of pants in a couple of years. all this time i've been stocking up on skirts and dresses. and this weekend i definitely had to dress as warm as possible because i was going to watch my guy paragliding. we drove off about half an hour away from the city to find the perfect hill for take off. unfortunately some guys beat us to it  and occupied our hill but luckily there was one just as good on the other side of the road, and it was all for ourselves to enjoy. the weather was perfect too so i jumped the occasion to snap some shots of my outfit. i thought the graphic shirt would spice things up a bit and break the monotony of all these knits. this circle scarf is really special to me because it was hand knitted by one of my best friends. i don't get to see her very often nowadays so i just wear this scarf to remind me of her.

i got a love that keeps me waiting

well, i don't know about you guys but i had quite a fun weekend. i went out with friends on friday night and had a blast, slept till noon on saturday and then got all dressed up to take some pics so i could show you guys the sweater and anchor necklace i picked up at the thrift store recently. i ended up swapping the skirt and tights for pants later on as we were planning to go ice skating, which we didn't get to do cause we got there kinda late and it was so packed. instead we had  a stroll and a nice, quiet dinner at our favorite italian place. i did get to go ice skating with some friends on sunday though, which went pretty well considering it was my second time on skates. i did fall (not very gracefully) a couple of times and it's a surprise my legs are fine given that i bruise quite easily. i'm not a fan of winter but as long as it's sunny outside i endure the cold better and as long as there are outdoor activities to keep me warm i don't mind it that much. and all this time this song was playing in my mind.

this bloody mary's lacking in tabasco

i think i might have an editing problem. for example, i never know for sure if i have accessorized an outfit too much or too little, or if everything really goes together or one if the items is the odd one out. but since i make my own rules i usually don't quite care what anyone will think, so i just do as i please. putting this ensemble together was quite a challenge, not that it's in any way spectacular or anything. i wanted to include everything from bold statement jewelry to color, patterns and textures and then some. i kept throwing things off and piling new stuff on and wasn't content at all. i knew i wanted to keep the sweater since it's a new entry (thrifted of course) and the softest coziest thing i've ever laid my hands on. i ended up layering it over a paisley print dress. in the end i was content with all the layering and the color palette. i wore this to a leonardo da vinci exhibition and then hung out for coffee with a dear friend and enjoyed a beautiful sunny saturday afternoon.

cause you and i, we were born to die

i don't mean to sound pessimistic now that a new year has begun, it's just that i am absolutely hooked on this song. it happens to me all the time, something vibrates so right with me when the lyrics of a song are just right. don't care too much about lana's looks, i find she could do better that that, but i am absolutely enchanted by her voice. now let me explain what is going on here. i think i am starting to get over this mixed prints trend, but to give it maybe one more try i decided to mix the same polka dot print but in different sizes and colors. and i quite like the result. i like how the polka dots on the dress are scarcer on the top and become more abundant in the bottom. then there's something quite retro about this cardigan, had it been a little bit more fitted and shorter it would have really looked like pinup wear. with this thought in mind i actually considered changing my hair style a bit. as you can see, this wasn't quite a successful attempt at curling my hair, but hopefully i'll do better next time. at least the color still looks great, but i plan on paying a visit to the salon next week to update it and get a trim.

happy new year!

happy new year, my darlings! hope you had a blast last night. this is what i wore to the festivities. of course i didn't get a chance to take pictures last night so i had to recreate it today, make up an all. it all stinks of cigarette smoke now but the things i won't do for fashion, right? the whole ensemble had this detachable collar as the center piece, which was a gift from my best friend and i had been trying to find out a way to wear it for quite a while. i thought at first i needed to make it work seamlessly with whatever top i chose to wear, so that you couldn't really tell it was a detachable collar. but then i thought it should be quite the opposite, you should be able to tell what it is because that's the whole beauty of it, especially with this bright color. so i found the right sweater with the perfect neckline and opted for a black base upon which i should splatter some color. i knew i wanted to wear a skirt with pockets on it so i could keep my phone in handy for all the midnight calls i would have to make. i realized i don't own too many skirts that have pockets so instead i turned this patchwork asymmetric dress into a skirt. i couldn't miss the chance of wearing my red litas so they were an obvious choice. add on some black rings and earrings and a vintage clutch and i was ready to shine for the big night!
