And it was all yellow

Skinny Buddha Jaunty Stripe Cold-shoulder Top in Yellow

I don'y have a great relationship with the color yellow. In fact I think it's my least favorite color. I wouldn't use such a strong word as "hate" to describe my feelings towards it, but it's not far from that either. Even so, once in a while I find myself inexplicably drawn to this color and here I am ordering this and that off the internet. This time I fell for this striped off shoulder shirt, mostly because I am obsessed with anything off the shoulder (somebody stop me!) but also because I wanted to take a risk color wise and step out of my comfort zone. I regret nothing! This is not something I would normally wear but I am glad I made a change, and this shade of yellow looks great against the blue stripes. Makes me think of the sun up in the summer sky. This is something I wore out on a stroll with the kiddo, so comfort was a must. I just threw on a pair of white cut off denim shorts, I cut them myself last year I think, and they are one of my favorite pair, comfy flat sandals and sunnies.

Spirit

Skinny Buddha black and white graphic print shirt dress

I'm a sucker for a graphic print, especially when it comes in black and white. I was super happy when this shirt dress arrived in the mail a couple of days ago and I couldn't wait to take it away with me on my weekend trip. As you might have already seen on Instagram, I went to Cluj for the Depeche Mode concert. I knew it would be a long day, and very hot, so I wanted to wear something that was comfortable and light but with enough coverage to protect me from the sun. The print of the dress is quite similar to the graphic design of Depeche Mode's latest album Spirit, so I thought it was a match made in heaven. We decided to take a walk around Cluj, a city I haven't visited in quite a while, and our first stop was at the botanical garden, a true oasis in the middle of the city. My favorites were the Japanese gardens and the greenhouses where I saw magnificent giant water lilies, palm trees and the most gorgeous monstera deliciosa I have seen. If only I could have snatched it away and placed it in my living room. Unfortunately it was impossibly hot in there and we had to take these pictures really quick, because we were sweating like crazy, but it was all worth it. This is definitely a place I would visit again and again, but maybe in less hotter weather.

Mint

Skinny Buddha Mint Flowers Crochet dress

Vacation is not all we think about during the summer. There are plenty of events you might need to attend, whether it's weddings, formal parties or social events. And of course you need to make a grand entrance. Well, I found the perfect dress for the fancy events I need to attend this season and it's this beautiful crochet cami dress in mint. It seems I have a thing for all things mint this season, although normally I would be attracted to everything pastel during spring. I am in love with the crochet flowers and the mid calf length is so flattering. Unfortunately I left the house without accessories, and didn't realize it until I was well on  my way to the shoot. I would have kept the accessorizing to a minimum though,  maybe a pair of golden clip on earrings and a couple of marble beads bracelets. I normally go for very bright or colorful backgrounds for my photos, but this time this cement wall really inspired me and I loved the contrast between the delicate dress and the roughness of the wall. It's not a random wall by the way, it's part of an art installation in a park close to where I live.

All that jazz

Skinny Buddha mint ruffles dress

Hello my lovelies, hope you are having a great start of the week so far. I am back with a brand new set of photos from this weekend. For me it has been all about escaping the city heat and retreating in the mountains. The location is a summer favorite, we always come here a couple times a year especially during the jazz festival. So I guess you could call this my idea of a festival look: a gorgeous light weight mint dress in a loose silhouette, a straw boater hat and comfy sandals. The first thing that caught my eye when I saw this dress were the dramatic flare sleeves and the crochet details. The color is super pretty as well, and it will look even better on me once I get a bit of a tan. The sandals have been a favorite last year. Remember  when everybody was crazy about pompoms and there were hundreds of pompoms sandals to choose from and a few diy videos on how to make your own? Well, you can check out how my pair originally looked in this post here. Wore them a couple of times this summer until I decided the pompoms were a bit too much and so I decided to take them off (they were glued and came off fairly easily) and I love them so much more this way. My hat has pompoms as well so that's enough. We're back in the city now but we're planning another escape to this magical place in August and hopefully we'll stay longer than a weekend.
