Night falls and towns become circuit boards

Skinny Buddha Grey Round Neck Split Back Sheath Combo Dress

Things are not always what they seem, in life, and especially on the internet! When you do a lot of online shopping you sometimes find this to be painfully true. It doesn't necessarily mean you are disappointed, but the item you just ordered isn't exactly as pictured or as you imagined it to be. The only challenge I had with this dress for example, was the fact that it's super sheer and you could not tell that from the photos, which were taken in a studio. In broad daylight this becomes very apparent, and unfortunately I chose the wrong slip to wear underneath it. But still, I am happy with my choice, and will wear it better next time. Hopefully by then I will lose that bit of tummy fat that still clings to me (I am secretly hoping it's in fact just excess skin from my pregnancy and hopefully it will shrink back to normal soon). I really loved the design of the dress, especially the split back. It can be easily dressed up for the office, like I did here, or dressed down with flat ankle boots or sneakers and a leather jacket for running errands. I always look for versatility in each new piece I acquire. We're not movie stars who can afford to wear everything only once, right?

How to look and feel great after giving birth

Skinny Buddha Jewel Toned shapewear blush

Pregnancy takes your body through a journey it has never been before on, and what a wild journey it is. Hormones raging, belly growing, feet swelling, back aching and this to only name a few of the things you might be faced with. I was lucky enough to go through a very nice and easy pregnancy without morning sickness or nausea, no major pains and only a mild sleep discomfort towards the end. I did my best to stay in shape, I paid extra attention to what I ate, still went regularly to my yoga classes, went swimming and walked for at least one hour every day.

So of course getting back into shape after giving birth was one of my top priorities. Not the top one, mind you - the top one was getting some sleep. Didn't manage to accomplish that in the first few weeks, but as things started to settle down and my baby and I found our rhythm, I was ready to take some action. I have to admit, breastfeeding has played a major role in dropping some of those extra kilos I was left with after giving birth. Also, because I was breastfeeding I had to pay even more attention to what I ate but this didn't mean I went on a very strict diet. Then I decided it was time to get back to my yoga routine and add some extra crunches in the mix. Well, that proved easier said than done. Days went by and I couldn't find the time for all the activities I wanted to do. It seemed as though I was spending my days breastfeeding and changing diapers with not much else in between.

That's when I found the perfect way to cheat. Shape wear is the greatest invention ever! There is nothing more important than feeling comfortable with your body after such a major life event, and shape wear can definitely accomplish that for you. I found the perfect slip dress at Jewel Toned, and the best part is I can wear it on its own or layered underneath a dress or any outfit for that matter. Their products are meant to be seen, right on the underwear as outerwear trend, they come in bold colors and they have the ability to form with your body as it changes. I definitely feel more comfortable now that I am wearing this and my self esteem just got a major boost.

Nancy Boy by Rory Parnell Mooney Man AW16

Nancy Boy by Rory Parnell Mooney Man AW16

A couple of days ago I stumbled upon this Autumn Winter 2016 Men's Collection  by designer Rory Parnell Mooney and the inspiration was a little bit too familiar. The collection references iconic Placebo front man Brian Molko and his androgynous style. Music and fashion have always gone hand in hand and I am always pleasantly surprised when designers choose rock star icons and their music as inspiration. In this collection's case, the inspiration is specifically taken from the band's single Nancy Boy and I absolutely adore the printed t-shirts, fluid garments, bondage scarves and the gloves. The song deals with the idea of bisexuality becoming a very chic way of life, questioning people's choices when it comes to sex partners, and of course the drugs that come into the mix. Not much has changed in the meantime, and the song is still as valid today as it was on the 90's. You cannot have rock and roll without the sex and the drugs, can't you?

Call me visionary (ok, maybe that's a bit too much!) but I came up with the Nancy Boy t-shirt ages ago. 10 years ago, to be more exact. I had this t-shirt custom made just before my very first Placebo concert back in 2006 in Bucharest. The t-shirt reads "I wish I was a Nancy Boy". I still have the t-shirt, although I don't wear it anymore. Some things are worth keeping because they hold such dear memories. Below is a picture of me and my sister just before the show. As the band started to play the song Nancy Boy I took off my t-shirt and held it above my head. Yep, I was crazy like that. I even thought of throwing it on the stage, as we were quite close to it, but wasn't sure it would make it so I abandoned the plan. My short on one side, long on the other side hairstyle at the time proved to become very popular years later, so you see... I am always ahead of my time.

Check out the video for Nancy Boy here! I can't believe the song is almost 20 years old, but still so current.

Oh, won't you breathe life into these lungs I keep under my coat

Skinny Buddha camel coat Max Mara Weekend bag knit scarf

Let's begin the week with a brand new outfit post and wash away the Monday blues! I had to brave quite a blizzard yesterday to take these pictures but it was totally worth it. There have been lots of bloopers this session, mainly because the wind was blowing so hard I could barely keep my eyes open and my coat from flying off me. I couldn't get out of the house the first time it snowed this year so I am happy at least I caught the second one. The city was so serene and quiet and there was almost no traffic. I just wish it wasn't so windy, I would have taken my daughter out for a stroll as well so she could see snow for the very first time. Not that at 7 weeks old she would understand what this strange white coat is, but still it would have been nice. I guess we'll have to wait for a sunnier day.

This must have been one of the quickest photo shoot ever. It took us a while to find a good location,  slightly sheltered from the wind, but other than that no time was wasted. I merely glanced at a few shots on the camera to make sure they were good and off we went to the nearest coffee shop to warm up over a cup of herbal tea. It was super nice to hang out with my blogger friends, we all have such busy schedules that we rarely find the time to hang out and catch up. Of course, we talk almost every day online but it's not the same meeting each other face to face. We must seem like such a funny lot - we almost speak a different kind of language, to anyone who happens to sit next to us or eavesdrops on our silly fashion blogging conversations.

Hope you guys had a great weekend and I wish you a very productive week! Here's a great song to lighten the mood - watch the video here!

Favorite red carpet looks at the Golden Globes

Oh, who can resist the glitz and glam of the red carpet. I don't watch a lot of such shows, but when it comes to movie events I make an exception. Coincidentally, or maybe not, some of my favorite looks have been worn by some of my favorite actresses. I loved Kirsten Dunst in the second season of Fargo and I am a huge fan of her look at the event. Talk about va va voom! The Danish Girl introduced me to Alicia Vikander and I will be keeping an eye on her for sure. Don't you just love her demure look? Which one was your favorite?

Ground control to Major Tom

Skinny Buddha knit sweater scarf

Winter is all about cozy knits and I am wearing two of my favorite pieces - this darling striped sweater  I recently received as a present and a scarf I knitted back in college. Yep, I did that and I still love it after all these years. I wish I now had the time to knit, but as you can imagine I've got my hands full. Speaking of which, there's a reason I am facing away from the camera in most of these pictures. Well, for one, I am loving my half bun hairdo and had to show it, but the other reason is I am trying to hide the huge bags under my eyes. I am still adjusting to this new sleeping schedule, which basically consists of waking up 3-4 times a night and not getting too much sleep. Changing the subject, you might have noticed that most of my post titles are song titles or lyrics and today they have a very special meaning. It's a sad day, as we have lost one of the most prolific artists. Have a great journey among the stars, David Bowie! <3

What not to wear when it gets cold

Skinny Buddha black and white outift culottes

Happy New Year, babes! I finally managed to snap some outfit pictures this weekend, and let me tell you, I was not dressed properly at all. Man, it was freezing outside. But I was so excited to wear these culottes once again that I just didn't care. Given that they're high waisted, I couldn't wear them while I was pregnant, and they were the first pair of pants I wanted to jump into once the baby was born. I admit I put on the pumps just for the sake of the photos, I changed into a pair of comfy flat ankle boots the minute I was done. And boy, did my feet thank me for that. So here it is, the outfit I definitely I wouldn't recommend you to wear on a cold cold day, but save for later.
