But now we're stressed out

Skinny Buddha graphic print skirt

I've taken a long enough time off from work and office wear that I am slightly, but only slightly, beginning to miss it. No matter how tired or stressed out I am, I like my new job as a mom way better. Nothing says office attire better than a pencil skirt, you can never go wrong with that. For today's look I chose one in a graphic print on the front panel and paired with a simple purple sweater and matching pumps. Chic and elegant - check and check! Luckily I don't have to go to the office anymore, so I wore this out for a lunch date. It was nice to take a break from the sweats I normally wear all day at home with the baby, and since I don't go out as much I am enjoying each occasion so much more.

Code red

Skinny Buddha red coat

I might have developed a thing for red coats recently. You obviously cannot wrong with one if you want to stand out in the crowd, no matter the season. My first thought when I saw this one was I wanted to do an all red outfit, but that proved more difficult than I originally thought. When I got home and started to pull out red tops and bottoms from the wardrobe I  realized they were all very different shades and they didn't quite go together as nicely as I thought. So I decided to go with only 2 red pieces and break them apart with a basic white button down shirt and light purple sneakers. The sneakers give a more relaxed vibe to the whole look. This is actually a great recipe for the weekend and I love the result so much I  might do a remix of this in a different color pretty soon.

5 tips for shopping for the perfect bag

Skinny Buddha Kurtmann light grey bag

A great leather bag is one of the most crucial elements you need in your wardrobe. Finding one that works with all your day to day outfits, ranging from casual, sport, office or elegant, might be a daunting task. Here are some tips on how to find that perfect bag to match your style mix:
  • * Chose a color that can be easily coordinated with your sartorial choice of the day. While black is the most common and obvious choice, I urge you to step out of the box and go for a different color choice. Grey is a very versatile option and you will find it blends more easily with the colors in your outfit.
  • * Shape is a very important factor as well. Stick to the classics and you cannot go wrong. While odd shaped or novelty bags might be all the rage this season, you want something you can carry for multiple seasons or even years.
  • * Size matters! Be mindful of what you actually need to carry with you on a day to day basis and get rid of unnecessary stuff - you don't want to feel like carrying a bag full of bricks. Unless you are carrying your laptop, go for a small or medium size to get that polished look.
  • * Look for quality when it comes to bags, in order to make your investment worthwhile. Make sure you pick good quality leather but also keep an eye on the quality of the handles, straps,  clasps, locks and lining.
  • * Shop smart and check out the sales. If you are eyeing that designer bag of your dreams but cannot afford it full price, wait until it goes on sale or hunt for special offers. The wait will be well worth it and your budget won't suffer... that much.
I've been carrying this bag for two weeks now and managed to make it work with all my outfits. Here I have incorporated it in a very casual ensemble, something I would wear while running errands. Hope you guys like it!

Hymn for the weekend

Skinny Buddha Burgundy Long Sleeve Lapel Ruffle Coat

Someone please pinch me, I can't believe I am wearing this colorful spring coat in the middle of February. It's crazy! I shot this look this weekend and the weather was super nice, it felt great strolling around town in this ensemble. I just now realized that what I am wearing underneath the coat reminds me a lot of the outfits I used to wear when I first started posting on the blog. It's a very basic silhouette and therefore I consider it fail proof. I guess these days I just grab the most comfortable and easy to put on stuff from my wardrobe. The dress and leggings combo is what I would wear around the house while hanging out with my babe, but add a pair of knee high boots and a colorful coat and you've got yourself an outfit that stands out on the street.

Living like we're renegades

Skinny Buddha mustard coat

This winter hasn't been very wintery, has it? I barely touched my super warm and fuzzy coats this season so far. Transitioning fall coats into winter has therefore never been easier. I recently found this earth toned coat in Kapa Shopping Center and I was smitten. Normally I would try and style this kind of 3/4 sleeve coat in a very feminine, lady like manner because it has a certain degree of elegance to it. I decided to fight this urge and try and incorporate it a more unexpected, relaxed, androgynous day to day look. I went for a mustard top to complement the colors of the coat, boyfriend jeans and cut out ankle boots. I'm very into minimalist jewelry at the moment, so I fetched a piece of leather and tied it around the neck into a very chic necklace. Hope you guys love the result!

Suit up!

black blazer dress diy choker necklace

This week I am debuting a brand new collaboration with Kapa Shopping Center and I really hope you guys love this look because I am over the moon excited about it. I've been dreaming of a blazer dress ever since the Balmain  x H&M collection, and now I found one at a very reasonable price. For a day look it's better to opt for a simpler silhouette, while an embellished blazer dress will work better for evening wear. When it comes to blazers, the cut needs to be flawless and the fit needs to be perfect in order to obtain that polished look. This is such a statement piece, bound to make you feel empowered the moment you put it on. To add a bit more edge to the outfit I decided to create a choker necklace. This is such an easy diy project, you just need a strip of material and a pendant of your choice. I used some left over ribbon from wrapping presents and an old Danish crown coin that has a hole in the middle. And voila, my outfit is now complete. So ladies, suit up and get ready to take the world by storm!

The return of the turtleneck sweater

Skinny Buddha 70s black turtleneck sweater

The turtleneck sweater is making a comeback and I'm loving it! In fact, as I am sure you have already noticed, the '70s are making a major comeback right now, and the turtleneck is such a '70s staple. I am not ready to embrace the flare pants just yet, so I think I'll just stick to that. I can't even remember when was the last time I wore a turtleneck sweater, it must have been sometime in college. My favorite one was a hand me down multicolored striped one from my mother. I wonder what happened to it. Anyway, I recently thrifted 2 such sweaters and they are super comfy and very practical especially when I am carrying my baby girl out for a walk, because I don't need to wear a scarf. This time I decided to go for a very feminine look, and I paired the black sweater with a wool skirt and cocoon coat. I kept the makeup very simple, in neutral tones and a beige lip color. Scroll all the way down to shop my look!
