Bowknot Bird Embroidered Kimono

It's no secret I am a big cherry blossoms fan, known in the Japanese culture as sakura. My first tattoo, a back piece, was a cherry blossoms branch. For this reason, spring is the most awaited season for me. Even though my dream of going to the cherry blossom festival in Japan has not come true yet, I can still enjoy the spectacle of the blooming trees right here in my city. This alley is probably the most photographed during the spring season. As I was telling you in a previous post, there are a couple of special spots around the city and this one is my second favorite place to visit once the trees start to bloom. I think these are wax cherry trees, and they have the pretties pink blossoms. It was no easy task to take photos here as the alley is super crowded these days, but somehow we managed to snap a few shots.
I am wearing a bow knot bird embroidered kimono jacket to add just a hint of the Japanese vibe. I fell in love instantaneously when I laid my eyes on it. It seems it's still hard for me to stay away from black pieces, but this beauty was too hard to pass.  I did add a bit of color, with a bright red pair of pants and bold red lips. The background is filled with such beautiful pastel colors, the pink blossoms blend in with the bright blue sky,  and I think this outfit really stands out. The bow pumps are not the most comfortable choice for a stroll in the park, but if you swap them with a pair of comfy loafers you would still make a very chic appearance.

Culotte Jumpsuit Rhinestones Chunky Heel Boots

When spring comes and the trees start to blossom I go out on my annual pilgrimage of sorts to some very special spots around the city. You will see in the next few posts where exactly these places are and why they are so fascinating. My absolute favorite thing is not necessarily a spot but a tree, a magnolia tree. When in full bloom it's absolutely spectacular and I could spend hours on end watching it. Don't care too much about the "palace" behind it, or the infamous gypsy owners, but I have to admit they have excellent landscaping tastes. Oh yeah, and that iron fence that guards the magnolia tree is quite nice as well.
I wasn't yet hit by a sudden urge to dress in pastel colors from head to toe, instead I am still attracted to everything black and I have to tell you, I am loving the contrast between my outfit and the background. I fell in love with this black culotte jumpsuit from Woman Fashionbut if you fancy a more colorful one, you have plenty of options to choose from here. This is such a versatile piece and it's super easy to dress it down for an everyday look, or dress is up for a special occasion. I went the fancy way this time and paired it with a precious pair of rhinestones chunky heel boots and a large brim hat. I had to fight the urge of stealing a magnolia flower to accessorize my look, I know it would have looked awesome. But what can I say, I am a tree hugger, I could never do harm to this magnificent being.

Everything you've come to expect

Short Stripe Fringed Shawl Scarf - Beige

It was about time I wore something more colorful, right? It seems I've been stuck in a rut lately and I've been drawn to darker clothes more often than not. And it wasn't just the winter at fault, although many people tend to match the gloomy weather with equally gloomy colored clothes. We are in a long term relationship, so I guess from time to time I just return to my my love of black and grays. This weekend I came back to my hometown to celebrate my dad's birthday and because I was in such a celebratory mood I only packed colorful clothes. The weather was super nice as well and this was the perfect outfit for taking my daughter to the park.
As you might have noticed, I have a big thing for over sized scarves, they are so versatile and I could get them in every print and color out there. This one comes in a beautiful striped print in muted colors, it has a square shape so you can drape it over your shoulders as a shawl or wrap it around your neck as I did here. I chose the colors of the rest of my outfit in more vibrant tones, but within the same color palette.
My other obsession this season is cropped jeans. I bought these ones in a thrift shop last year for a diy project I had in mind, and I cut the hems and frayed the ends. You can see the result in this post here. Then this year I decided to give them another update so I cut them some more, to obtain that crop length. I cut the front a bit more than the back, and then frayed the edges once again. I can see myself wearing this pair all season. And to think that up until a few years ago you could rarely spot me in a pair of jeans, or in pants for that matter. I was always wearing skirts and dresses, even during winter time. Now, as a mom, I find jeans a lot more comfortable and I get more freedom of movement.
