Fair-weather friends

Skinny Buddha geometric print oversized scarf

Spring is almost here! We've seen a glimpse of it this weekend and the entire population flooded the city center. I had to circle the block a couple of times to find a parking space yesterday when I went out to meet my girls. I've been waiting so long to soak up some sun and shed all those winter layers of clothes. My best ally during this transition period? It's the over sized scarf, of course. I wear it around my neck during the day and then I can unfold it and drape it over my shoulders for extra warmth during the evening. This geometric print scarf in neutral colors (and a bit of black) is my favorite at the moment. Unfortunately it's sold out in this color, but you can still find a couple of other color combos that suit you. I left the link for it below.
The denim jacket is my favorite thing to wear for spring, and it literally goes with everything. I've had this one for ages, 12 years to be more precise, and because it has such a classic design it never goes out of style. I was debating last year whether to bring it up to date and adorn it with a bunch of embroidered patches to make it look more modern, but never got around to do it, and now I think it doesn't need that, it's beautiful on its own. The shoes are pretty much the same age, I bought them that same summer, and although they are so beat up and dusty, they are still my favorite pair. I guess some pieces stay with you forever, or at least until they tear and break beyond wearing, and you always go back to them like a faithful old friend.
I haven't really invested in a lot of jewelry lately, mostly because my daughter is instantly drawn to whatever piece I decide to wear and tries to pull and grab it. I'm currently obsessed with these 2 marble stone bracelets and because my wrists are super thin and most bracelets tend to fall off, I love wearing them over my sweaters. They do look great don't they?

Iron Maiden

Skinny Buddha Iron Maide t-shirt crop jeans

Hello boys and girls, say hello to my friend Eddie! Band t-shirts are making a huge comeback and while most people probably just wear them as a fashion statement, rest assured I am not a poser. I actually used to listen to Iron Maiden quite a lot in high school, and I've already seen them live in concert twice. I do admit though that the t-shirt is not mine, I borrowed it from my husband who is also a huge fan. It has become quite a habit for me to borrow stuff from his closet and in a recent conversation with a friend of  mine who apparently does the same, I admitted that my strategy sometimes is to buy clothes for my husband with the intention of borrowing them from time to time. This way I score points for the gift, I don't have to use my own closet space but I make sure I don't borrow stuff too often.
You've already seen  my fabulous two toned boots in a previous post (here) where I mixed them in an elegant outfit. This time I wanted to put them in a more laid back, casual but still stylish context. I thought this pair of cropped jeans would look great with the boots. I was a bit skeptical about the length of the jeans at first, but they do look great with the boots and I love that you can see a teeny tiny bit of skin as well. I was getting a bit tired of the same old skinny and boyfriend jeans everybody is wearing, and these are surely a breath of fresh air. Of course not everyone is a fan - talk about a man repeller, but I am for sure!
I don't normally mix black and brown together, it's the kind of combination that is hard to pull off, and honestly quite hard to digest. But luckily I found this beautiful checkered coat that ties the whole ensemble together and gives the outfit more structure. And did I mention it's made in Romania? #buylocal Having second thoughts right now about the belt, but all in all I am very pleased with this look.

Patch it up

Skinny Buddha lamb wool coat embroidered patches

By the looks of it, it's going to be a long winter, and for once this doesn't bother me at all. I am all prepared now to face the cold days ahead because I got my hands on the warmest winter coat ever with these cute embroidered patch details. And I got it on sale, of course! I never buy winter coats at full price because they are ridiculously expensive, I always wait until the end of the season when they go on sale. And I always invest in quality, timeless or statement pieces so that I don't get bored with them until next year. Seriously, I am not taking this fluffy thing off until spring. The issue I have with most coats you find in stores nowadays is that they are not very thick and warm, they have very little wool in their composition and they're not properly lined, especially along the arms. What can I say, I am growing old, and the cold affects me more and more as time goes by. This aspect would not have bothered  me at all if I was still in high school. Ask a teenager if they ever feel cold. Right?
I have to admit I've been admiring the patch trend from a distance these past few seasons but up until now I refrained from investing in a piece because I figured this is just a fad that's not going to last very long. I am glad I waited until now, because I am convinced that I'll be wearing this coat for many years with the same excitement I am wearing it right now. Without the patches it would have looked plain and uninteresting, they certainly make it look more modern and up to date. Now that's what I call a great investment. It stands out on its own, so I kept all the other pieces of my outfit very basic: a simple black top, boyfriend jeans and flat lace up boots. What do you guys look for in a winter coat?  Have you found the perfect one for you yet?

Where's the revolution

Skinny Buddha metallic gold front slit dress purple bag

Hello, my dears! I have to begin again by apologizing for my lack of posts lately. I haven't been very active on social media either, but with the recent political events in my country, I think you'll find this perfectly understandable. When people decide to take to the streets for what they believe in, certain things or activities suddenly become trivial and less important. Although I was not able to go out and join the protests every night, as my baby girl was feeling a bit under the weather, I kept my eyes peeled for any relevant news or updates from the streets. I couldn't be prouder of my people right now, especially of all my friends who were out there every night, some of them with their kids out in the cold, making their voices heard. Even when faced with our government's defiance, I truly believe that if we stay united we can really make a difference.
But now it's time to get back to business, so to speak. I know Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and maybe you're looking for inspiration in case you haven't decided what to wear yet. Sorry to disappoint but I'm not really a romantic, and therefore not into this holiday, but maybe I can still give you some pointers. If it was me, I would totally wear this outfit out on a date. The peach skirt with  a metallic gold print looks precious enough for the occasion, and that daring high front slit will certainly make a statement. I love showing my legs, but I like to keep it classy as well. The chunky cardigan was my choice for the day,  but you can always opt for something more form fitting, maybe even a bit see through. Go for a pair of stilettos if you want to knock them dead, but if you want to keep it cool and casual like me, put on a pair of two toned ankle boots with a chunky heel. They're super comfortable and chic. I might have gone a bit overboard with the two tone theme here, but I felt this needed another pop of color, and therefore added this purple bag with golden accessories. Hope you guys love this as much as I do, and maybe you can give it a try sometimes, be it on a special occasion or just an ordinary day. Cheers!
