Patch it up

Skinny Buddha lamb wool coat embroidered patches

By the looks of it, it's going to be a long winter, and for once this doesn't bother me at all. I am all prepared now to face the cold days ahead because I got my hands on the warmest winter coat ever with these cute embroidered patch details. And I got it on sale, of course! I never buy winter coats at full price because they are ridiculously expensive, I always wait until the end of the season when they go on sale. And I always invest in quality, timeless or statement pieces so that I don't get bored with them until next year. Seriously, I am not taking this fluffy thing off until spring. The issue I have with most coats you find in stores nowadays is that they are not very thick and warm, they have very little wool in their composition and they're not properly lined, especially along the arms. What can I say, I am growing old, and the cold affects me more and more as time goes by. This aspect would not have bothered  me at all if I was still in high school. Ask a teenager if they ever feel cold. Right?
I have to admit I've been admiring the patch trend from a distance these past few seasons but up until now I refrained from investing in a piece because I figured this is just a fad that's not going to last very long. I am glad I waited until now, because I am convinced that I'll be wearing this coat for many years with the same excitement I am wearing it right now. Without the patches it would have looked plain and uninteresting, they certainly make it look more modern and up to date. Now that's what I call a great investment. It stands out on its own, so I kept all the other pieces of my outfit very basic: a simple black top, boyfriend jeans and flat lace up boots. What do you guys look for in a winter coat?  Have you found the perfect one for you yet?
